Each carrier has their own policy regarding children passengers.

For information regarding infants please see Infant Fares and Discounts.

Children passengers are usually defined by ages ranged between 2-16, but these can vary by carrier. Actual ticketing policies as well as the discounts (if any) offered, will also vary and will depend on the carrier.

Here are a few different examples:

-Amtrak offers a 50% discount for children between 2-12 years old. Only 1 discounted child ticket is available per adult ticket purchased. Tickets must be purchased on www.amtrak.com.

-Trailways NY bus lines offer a 25% discount for children 2-15 years old. 2 discounted child tickets are available per adult ticket purchased. Tickets must be purchased on www.trailwaysny.com.

-Peter Pan offers a 20% discount for children 2-11 years old. However the tickets must all be purchased in person at the station. Discount rates are not applicable to online purchases.

-Via Rail offers a 50% discount on Economy fares only for children between 2-11 years old. Only 1 discounted child ticket is available per adult ticket purchased. Tickets must be purchased on www.viarail.ca

Child discounts only apply to children traveling with a full paying adult. Children traveling alone (if carrier policies permit) must pay full price and the ticket will have to be purchased at the station). Age Restrictions.

These following carriers do not offer child discounts: Greyhound, Go Buses, Bolt Bus, OurBus, Best Bus, Eastern Bus, Panda NY Bus, Wanda Coach (3+) and a few others...all tickets are the same price for all travelers and can be purchased on Wanderu.com.

If the carrier you wish to travel with does offer a child fare or discount and you wish to take advantage of that discount, we will suggest that you contact them directly for assistance as these tickets cannot be purchased through Wanderu at this time.
