How much luggage can I bring on my Megabus trip?
Megabus will accept one piece of luggage per passenger, which must not exceed 62 inches when adding up the dimensions (length + width + height) and should not weigh more than 50 pounds.
Passengers can also take onboard one small carry-on bag that will fit in the overhead storage compartments or under the seat. Megabus does not allow bicycles. See the Megabus luggage policy for more details.
Does Megabus have amenities on board?
Megabus does offer WiFi, power outlets, bathrooms, and entertainment on board most of its trips. Please keep in mind that since these are complimentary it is within the carrier's rights to not offer them on specific routes or if there are technical issues outside of their control.
Does Megabus have a discount for children or infants?
No, Megabus requires that all passengers (including children and infants) purchase a ticket for travel. You can book all of your Megabus tickets, even for little ones, on https://www.wanderu.com/.
Can minors travel alone on Megabus?
Customers under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult (17 years or older). Unaccompanied minors under the age of 17 are not permitted to travel on Megabus. Young adults should be prepared to produce a photo ID with proof of age.
After Booking Your Ticket
I didn't receive my confirmation email or ticket from Megabus!
Megabus does not issue tickets, however they do send out confirmation emails. Remember to check your email inbox/promotions or spam folder for an email from Megabus.
If you need a copy of your ticket, you can screenshot it by going to https://us.megabus.com/journey-planner/manage-booking and following the prompts.
Do I need to print my Megabus ticket?
You can use your phone to board the Megabus bus. Simply show your confirmation code on your phone to the agent.
Most Megabus trips will not require a printed confirmation, however some of their affiliates, such as Shortline-Coach USA, might. (Megabus recommends for the confirmation email to be printed out just in case it is required by the driver or if you have difficulties accessing it on your mobile device before departure.)

How early should I arrive at the station?
We recommend arriving at least 20-30 minutes before the departure time to prepare for the boarding process. If you are unfamiliar with the departure station, it's always good to leave extra time to find your way around!
Do I need an ID to board my bus?
No, currently Megabus does not require an ID to board the bus. Of course, it is always a good idea to carry a government-issued ID whenever you hit the road.
Cancelling or Changing Your MegaBus Reservation
Can I make changes to my ticket?
If you are unable to travel on your scheduled departure date, you may trade in your reservation online with Megabus as long as it’s more than 3 hours before your scheduled departure. The cost of your initial reservation will go toward crediting the new one.
Please note that there is a trade-in fee applied for changed reservations:
- $3.00 for trade-ins more than 24 hours from departure.
- $5.00 for trade-ins 6 to 24 hours from departure.
- $7.50 for trade-ins 3 to 6 hours from departure.
In addition, there is a $2.50 new reservation fee, or $7 when the change is made by telephone (1 (877) 462-6342), for changed reservations.

Can I cancel my ticket and get a refund?
Unfortunately, all Megabus tickets are nonrefundable.

I missed my bus! What do I do?
Catching the next trip out or requesting a refund for the unused ticket would be completely up to Megabus, since reservations and transactions are done directly with the carrier.
Usually, no refunds or credits will be given in instances where passengers miss the bus, but you can always contact Megabus to inquire at 1 (877) 462-6342.
